Two years ago The Belgian Red Devils made it to the quarterfinals at the World Cup and hit show The Twelfth Man was launched for the very first time. This year our Red Devils have qualified for the European Championship and that means The Twelfth Man is back for more.

The show

In each episode, two teams of eleven friends, family or colleagues plus a celebrity ‘Twelfth Man’, compete in a fun and fast moving daily or weekly show. The prize? The trip of a lifetime, and the chance to cheer their national team to victory at the European Championship.

Three of the eleven players, with the help of a celebrity, work as a team to make tactical choices and think strategically as they go head to head with their opponents. At the end of the fifth round, the winning team goes through to the daily final. During the final the entire team competes for a spot in the overall ranking. Which team eventually will lift the silverware, will be decided during the grand final on April 7, 2016.

The Twelfth Man is not a sports quiz, but a laugh a minute, entertaining general knowledge Q and A show that taps into the hype and build up that surrounds every big international football event. And even non-football lovers can’t help but join in the fun.

The ultimate prize is a trip for the entire winning team to France, where they can cheer on our national soccer heroes at the group stage games of the European Championship.

The teams

26 teams will come together to play for a coveted place in the series final. The team members are linked to each other, one way or another. They can be family members, teachers at the same high school, neighbors… Anything is possible.

Teams from all over the country have entered the competition, ranging from prison guards from Dendermonde to referees from Bruges. All of them share the same dream: cheer our national team to victory at the European Championship!

Karl Vannieuwkerke has his very own ‘celebrity team’ this year. Eleven celebrities will be team captain for one of the 26 teams and lead them into battle. The celebrities are Cath Luyten, Danira Boukhriss, David Galle, Jandino Asporaat, Lieven Scheire, Linde Merckpoel, Maaike Cafmeyer, Ruth Beeckmans, Tom Waes, Wesley Sonck & Zouzou Ben Chikha.
