Production Company De Mensen is nominated for a Rose d’Or with Lip Sync Stories. The program competes in the category ‘Comedy’ against three other programs: ‘Cunk on Britain’ from the UK, ‘Grotesco’s Seven Masterpieces’ from Sweden, and ‘Trixie Wonderland’ from Germany.

In Lip Sync Stories famous Flemings tell about some of their remarkable anecdotes. These stories are then re-enacted by a cast of comedy actors. Ruth Beeckman, Sven De Ridder, Ben Segers and Stefaan Degand took the roles of protagonists upon themselves. Important detail: the actors themselves don’t speak, but lip-sync the words the narrators say, which is why Lip Sync Stories is the international title of the format.

Dubbing it all on set wasn’t easy. The actors went the extra mile to revive each and every story. All this hard work was clearly appreciated by the jury of the Rose d’Or.

Lip Sync Stories was broadcasted in the fall of 2017 on VTM. Currently, recording for the second season is under way. There is a lot of interest abroad as well. France, Germany, Finland, Australia, the UK and the US have already taken an option on the format. In the Netherlands a pilot has already been made.

The Rose d’Or is one of the most prestigious prizes for television. The award ceremony is on the 13th of September in Berlin.
